To expand Suovilla’s range of plastic-free sock yarns, we’re introducing the stunning SÄRÖ sock yarn, developed in collaboration with a spinning mill. Särö combines the durability of Kuura, the thickness of Huurre, and (as a special bonus) the beautiful feel of Kainuunharmas wool!
The Kainuunharmas wool comes directly from Central Finland, and the yarn is professionally spun in Puumala at the Saimas Spinnery mill. In addition to socks, this yarn is also well suited for other knitted items that require a bit more durability.
Recommended needle size:
For socks: 2.5–3.0 mm
For other knits: 3.5–4.5 mm
Yardage: 100 g = 200 m
Särö takes its name from the ice surfaces that cover the ground and begin to crack as spring arrives. In the warmth of the spring sun, these lace-like patterns that adorned the winter landscape gradually disappear, while at the same time making room for fresh growth and an entirely new beginning. True to its name, Särö yarn is a beautiful example of making the most of otherwise unused wool.
